it’s no secret that virginia weddings are forever some of our favorites. there’s just something about those rolling hills that seem to go on forever that has our hearts. so naturally, we jump at any chance to photograph virginia weddings– especially at the beautiful vineyards in northern virginia and southern maryland.
when kathy + brian approached us about photographing their barns at hamilton station vineyards wedding, we pretty quickly knew that it would be a great fit! the barns is one of our favorite spaces with gorgeous scenery and unique features. event studio did an incredible job tying in summery, bright florals in every aspect of the design and coordinated everything so that the day went off without a hitch (even in the sweltering heat!)
we loved kathy and brian’s laid-back personalities and hearing more about their love story. their sweet bond was undeniable, and we adored having the chance to capture their sweet interactions with their daughters on this special day. almost every time that i hear walk the moon’s “shut up and dance,” i think of kathy dancing with their youngest. enjoy all of the pretty vintage touches of this virginia vineyard wedding!
thanks for letting us be part of your day, k+b!

anna + mateo

the start of spring has got us craving warm weather and laid-back vibes, and as we anticipate the start of wedding season (!!!), we wanted to share with you the lovely engagement photos from our first wedding of the season– coming up this spring! sometimes, i think we take for granted our proximity to such beautiful scenery, and looking back through these images, that’s certainly the case.
linda + arash wanted something quintessentially d.c. as the background for their engagement photos last summer, and so we quickly decided we needed to pull out all of the stops and shoot at iconic d.c. landscapes. we picked the tidal basin and jefferson memorial and somehow lucked out with the perfect evening– minimal tourists out and about (possibly attributed to the forecast of rain… or to taylor swift playing at the nearby redskin’s stadium!) and perfect temperatures.
i loved the classic, timeless feel of this dc engagement session, complimented perfectly by the couple’s warm affection and great style. i mean, can you believe linda’s blush ball gown!? it’s real life people, i promise.
to linda + arash: we cannot wait for your big day! thanks for choosing us to be a part of it.

Awesome engagement session! I love everything about it – from the sweet and genuine moments and emotion you captured, to the historic DC location, to her gorgeous sparkly dress! Just perfect!
-
I have never been to Washington D.C., but I have always wanted to go to see those landmarks. How fun to take a virtual tour through this beautiful engagement session! This couple looks like they enjoyed every minute of their portrait time. Her dress is amazing! I can’t wait to see their wedding!
-
This DC wedding/engagement photographer has captured these moments so effortlessly and naturally. I love her dress!
-
These D.C. Monument engagement photos are the epitome of class. I love how stylish they chose to dress in a suit and elegant dress. The styling matches the architecture of the monument so well. I can’t wait to see images from their wedding!
-
I love how glamorous these engagement photos from the Washington DC monuments are. It almost feels like they are stepping away from a fancy private function with the President to have some intimate pre-wedding photos taken. Great job!
-
I have not had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. yet, but it is on my bucket list to see all the monuments and tourist-y spots! This engagement session is stunning! I LOVE that gown of hers! (and I NEED those earrings!) Their formal attire was spot on and such a great compliment to their surroundings. I can’t wait to see the wedding photos, if this is a glimpse in to how they will style the wedding… we’re in for a real treat! You’re such a talented DC wedding and engagement photographer, I know you’ll showcase their wedding perfectly as you did with their engagement photos!
-
Washington DC is such a pretty city and the locations you chose for Linda and Arash’s engagement session really do give a quintessential DC background. I love the mix of casual and formal outfits…. That blush dress really is stunning. I can’t wait to see what magic you create as their wedding photographer!
-
Oh my goodness, these are just gorgeous. I am so impressed that you were able to make this DC background so stunningly perfect for these photos. I am sure this couple is blown away by their photos! Can’t wait for the wedding!
-
I love these engagement portraits, her dress is stunning, the color is amazing. You have captured these images perfectly. The Washington DC location by the monument is beautiful.
-
I would not have guess that an engagement session at the Washington Monument would be so amazing. I am in love with every image in this gallery and especially love her dress! Anna Gleave Photography would definitely be my pick for an engagement session and wedding in Washington DC!

D.C. Monument is a gorgeous location for an engagement session!! My gosh, this couple is stunning! I love how they had a change of clothes and the gown and suit are gorgeous!!
i know that we have been a bit MIA again. and there’s a million and ten reasons surrounding our lack of blogging lately. but with our new assistant (!!!) on board (more about that to come!), we’re excited to get things rolling and share lots of lovely sessions and weddings!
when emily approached us about doing her maryland engagement session at her family’s home in the country, we thought that it was a wonderful ideate bring in an element of “home.” what we didn’t expect was the incredible setting that emily calls home. when we pulled off of the road to her family’s country estate, delight farm, our jaws dropped. there was nothing but green fields, pastures, and beautiful barns as far as the eye could see. one thing we love about being dc-based wedding photographers is the diversity of the region. within an hour’s drive, we’ve shot city, country, and seaside. and there’s nothing better than capturing sweet love in a place that’s significant for our couples!
emily + joey are one sweet pair. we avoided a september rainstorm and ended up with the most amazing light for their session! we loved spending the evening with them, laughing (and getting photobombed by neighboring horses!), and enjoyed gathering around emily’s family’s table for a delicious meal after the fact. it’s pretty safe to say that we can’t wait for their wedding in july!
until then, enjoy this baltimore county engagement session.
see what i mean about perfect light and colors and horse photobombs?! thanks for choosing us to be part of your big day, e + j!
XO,
anna and mateo

in the photography world, there’s a lot of emphasis placed on finding “your ideal client” and shooting “your ideal weddings.” and you know what? i think we’ve been finding it this year, left and right! natural, floral-filled weddings with kind, down-to-earth clients whose joy escapes from every corner of their faces.
and this bishop’s house boise wedding was no exception! spenser and ann are the sweetest of couples and have such a special love; i don’t know if i’ve ever seen a groom’s reaction to a first look quite as precious as spenser’s when he saw ann for the first time in her wedding dress! their devotion to one another is so evident, and the love from their friends and families that was present on their wedding day was nearly palpable. the day was laid-back and filled with perfect weather, laughter, and the happiest of tears. we loved exploring the historic charm of the bishop’s house and took advantage of the nearby boise botanical gardens for portraits.
and the color pallet and details for the day were absolutely perfect! we loved the pops of color, fresh-picked poppies in ann’s bouquet, and the petal-covered aisle. and allll of the personal touches that were personal to the bride– including hundreds of hand-made origami cranes made by ann herself, darling gold animals at every place setting, and fun questionnaires for the guests to fill out as they waited for dinner. i can’t say enough about the beautiful floral arrangements at every table, either, or the overall charm that was so finely executed by bliss events.
we have some personal ties to the couple, which made this day even better for us! what’s better than seeing your wonderful cousin get married and dancing the night away while filming/photographing the whole thing? absolutely nothing.
ann + spenser, we love you. we couldn’t have been more honored to have the chance to fly to idaho and spend your wedding day with you. we are inspired by your love and devotion to one another! we appreciate your kindness and are so grateful for you!
look out, their wedding film will be hitting the blog next!

Beautiful
Wedding!
i still remember the moment devaun asked us to photograph her wedding. i was up late and received a sweet little e-mail from california from this beautiful girl, and i may or may not have danced around my living room with excitement. devaun has been one of my best friends for the majority of my twenties, and so naturally, i was overjoyed when she met her perfect match in craig.
as east-coast-based destination wedding photographers, it’s always fun to hop on a plane and shoot somewhere inspiring, but this one was particularly special. we were ecstatic to have the opportunity to fly cross country in february to sunny arizona (especially during maryland’s brutal winter this year!) and spend some time with a few of our favorite people, photographing and filming their day. and might we add, their wedding was absolutely perfect! we spent the morning chatting with devaun and her family as she got ready and we shot details– drinking diet cokes and catching up. craig and devaun shared the sweetest pre-wedding greeting before heading to get sealed and married at the gilbert, arizona lds temple. after a laid-back afternoon of portraits, we headed to their beautiful reception out in the desert. i loved their perfect wedding palette of off white, black, gold, with hints of green that carried from their gorgeous foiled invite suite to the bride’s shoes to the floral design.
in lieu of a wedding party, the bride and groom had a million and one family members and friends involved in their day. it was so fun to see how beloved they are and to see them interact with everyone! they had the cutest surprise choreographed first dance, delicious italian sodas to nosh on, and just the perfect, love-filled environment. they were this angelic couple who were actually glowing and couldn’t stop stealing glances at each other all day. i love those couples who are just so smitten. devaun is an incredible person– so kind-spirited, humble, hilarious, and beautiful. i feel so lucky to call her a friend, and i have never seen her happier (and we lived together for a summer in spain, the most beautiful place on earth, so i mean, that’s saying something…!) and since i’ve known craig, i have been so impressed by him– equally kind, gentle, and supportive. he’s one of those people that just puts others at ease. we loved seeing them together… and love these images!
to the martins: we love you. thanks so much for letting us be a part of your day (and your lives!) you are the classiest. to the rest of you all: thanks for tuning in! come back soon for the feature of their ridiculously fun/cute/awesome wedding video.
