i’ve learned that springtime in colorado is really a lovely thing. i love the beginning of that permanent sunshine season. all of the grass on the mountains starting to green up, + the tulips full in bloom. so naturally, springtime weddings are some of my favorite.
and chris + stephanie’s was no exception. after shooting their wintery engagements in the foothills outside denver in december, i quickly realized how remarkable these two are… and what a pair they make! they’re two of the kindest people around, and the happiness that radiates from them while they’re together is palpable.
and their april wedding day was perfect– full of the brightest sunlight, the cutest succulents, + lots of laid-back love. after photos at the denver lds temple, we snuck in a quick portrait session in downtown longmont before enjoying their cocktail-style reception at the coolest venue– a firehouse-turned-art-gallery.
and pleeeease, everyone, take a second to admire steph’s darling “going away” outfit + her perfect, custom-designed-by-her-sweet-husband, rings…
although i’m now a maryland-based wedding photographer, i still love spring weddings and will love shooting them equally as much out east! i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again…. i just really love love.
XO,
anna

i really, really, really love spring. i love the feeling of starting over– the presence of new life, the onset of warmer weather and sunnier days, and the flowers. oh, how i love spring blooms!
the only thing i love just as much as spring is when i get the chance to collaborate with industry friends and dream up something beautiful. i love working with my friend natalie; when we discussed the prospect of collaborating on a spring shoot this year, the idea of focusing on orchard blossoms instantly came to mind!
we teamed up with a host of amazing salt lake wedding vendors to create a floral-infused, citrus orchard inspired, vintage influenced bridal inspiration shoot. pleeeeeease take a second to fawn over all of this beauty– the gown, the florals, the details, the cake, the models, the sweet video — all of it!
also, be sure to check out our feature {including sweet natalie’s photographs, too!} on the utah bride blog and take a look at the fabulous vendor list below to show them some amore.

i woke up to the best phone call back in march. i was given news of this pretty little mama’s labor progression, and so i high-tailed it to swedish hospital in denver to begin photographing her birth story on this perfectly sunny, early spring day.
it’s no secret that i am a little bit obsessed with childbirth (not in a creepy way, just in a wow, that’s amazing and miraculous and so remarkable; go girl power kind of way) and am thus studying to be a nurse practitioner midwife. so why i haven’t shot more birth stories is a little bit of a mystery! but after shooting this birth, and standing there all amazed and teary eyed, it’s safe to say i’ve concluded…
i really, really love birth stories. like, if i could just shoot birth stories and weddings all day, every day, i don’t know if i’d ever get sick of it. there’s just something i love about capturing priceless moments– telling the day’s story, so that any outsider could glance through the images and feel the love and excitement of the day.
so with that in mind, here’s one mama’s story, ending with one perfect, 8 lbs., 3 oz. little babe.
and can we just talk about all of the smiles going on?! seriously, the sweetest, most smiley in-labor woman on the planet. so, so precious.

although weddings are my [not-so] guilty pleasure, there’s a big piece of my heart that loves missionary portraits, too! maybe it’s because my younger brother is currently serving an LDS mission in honolulu, hawaii, or maybe it’s just because i love the happiness that missionaries radiate.
either way– i love these photos! i am so happy that the darling kyrsten called me up for a mini portrait session this spring before she left for her nashville, tennessee spanish-speaking mission.
good luck out in the field, kyrsten! and may god bless you for your service.
